Common gym and weightlifting injuries we treat
Gym injuries often result from repeated strain or incorrect technique. We frequently treat:
Pain during or after training doesn’t always mean you need to stop exercising, but it does indicate something needs adjusting.

Why gym injuries happen
Most gym injuries are due to training errors rather than one-off accidents. Common factors include:
- Rapid increase in weight or intensity
- Poor lifting technique or form
- Imbalances in strength or mobility
- Insufficient recovery or warm-up
- Previous injuries not fully rehabilitated
Addressing these factors is key to safe, sustainable training.
How physiotherapy helps
We assess your technique, strength, and movement patterns to identify underlying causes of pain. Treatment may include:
- Hands-on therapy to relieve pain and tension
- Corrective exercises to improve strength and mobility
- Technique coaching and posture advice
- Progressive strength and conditioning programs
- Guidance on load management and recovery
Our approach ensures you can continue training safely while recovering.

Returning to the gym safely
Gradual, structured rehabilitation is key. We create a step-by-step return-to-training plan tailored to your goals, ensuring you regain confidence and reduce the risk of re-injury.

Limped in to the clinic in September to see if they could help me.
I had chronic back pain and would have been happy with any level of improvement.
After my assessment and a massage and acupuncture session Rebecca gave me a series of exercises to strengthen the core muscles supporting my lower back.
I decided to go for it and although it was difficult to start with, once I had gone through the initial pain barriers and a few more clinic visits I started to gradually feel the benefits.
December now and I’m almost pain free and signed up for the gym – not bad for a 74 year old!
Thank you Rebecca, gave me my freedom back.
